Proxy Options parameters


You can set up a proxy server to protect the devices in your network from attacks or to keep them anonymous. BMC Client Management can communicate through HTTP(S) proxies and reverse proxies. For more information on using reverse proxies, see Configuring-communication-through-a-reverse-proxy

Local subnets on the HTTP proxy configuration determine usage of the HTTP(S) proxy. You cannot use this type of proxy connection when a peer IP address (either direct or after a DNS alias resolution) is part of the configured local subnets. The HTTP(S) proxy usage can bypass this local subnets and check during download of patches (for Patch Management), during download of updates (for  Update Manager), or during download of the current Windows ADK information (for OS Deployment). 


To configure Proxy Options, navigate to Agent Configuration > Communication > Proxy Options tab.

On the Patch Manager and Update Manager pages, there is a link to redirect you to the proxy configuration page.

The Proxy Options tab includes the following parameters:

Host name


Name of the device on which the proxy is installed.

Port


The TCP port number of the parent on which it communicates with its children.

User


User name to be used for authentication.

Password   


The corresponding password. For security reasons, the password is only displayed in the form of asterisks (*).

Protocol 

HTTP

For the proxy configuration, select the protocol. It can be either HTTP or HTTPS. 

Check Settings


Verify that a connection can be established with the entered proxy parameter values.

CheckPeerCertificate

True

Check this box to use the Peer Certificate check when connecting to an HTTP(S) proxy.

Local subnets


The default value contains all IPV4 and IPV6 addresses. The HTTP(S) proxy is not used in this case.
