Enrolling Android mobile devices


You can use two types of Android mobile devices: personally-owned and a corporate (company owned) devices. The enrolment process differs and there are more advanced features available for corporate mobile devices. You can visit Google documentation for more description of these device types.

BMC Client Management supports management of mobile devices running Android version 6.0 and later.

To enroll a mobile device by accessing the enrollment link from the enrolling device

  1. (For corporate devices) Configure your Wi-Fi connection, and ensure that your access is protected with VPN.
  2. Open the enrollment link in the browser of the mobile device you want to enroll. 
    The Welcome page displays the following options:
    • Enroll Android Device
    • Enroll Apple device
  3. Select the Enroll Android Device option.
  4. To the appropriate boxes enter:
    • The same email address where you received the enrolment link
    • Your password

  5. Depending on the type of device you are using, select the correct enrollment link to follow. It varies for personally-owned and corporate devices.

    The device policy controller application, designed and supported by Google, is automatically downloaded to your device. This application is a part of Android Management API and allows you to configure all the enrolled users. It downloads and applies the Google profile that you selected for the enrollment.   6.  Set a screen lock. If you choose to lock the screen with a password, use the one that you set in passcode policies in your Google profile.

    Your current device is enrolled. It appears in the BMC Client Management console under Mobile Device Management > Mobile Devises > Managed Mobile Devices.

After the mobile device is enrolled successfully, you will receive a confirmation message. If you do not receive a confirmation message, contact your IT administrator.

To enroll a mobile device by accessing the enrollment link from another device

  1. Open the enrollment link.
  2. Select the Android platform for the device to be enrolled.
  3. On the Authentication page, specify the email address where you received the enrollment invitation, enter your active directory user account password, and click Next.
  4. You can either select to receive an enrolment link to your email, or scan a QR code with a dedicated scanning application on your mobile device.
    The QR code is different for personally-owned and corporate devices.
