Manually Updating the Knowledge Base - Local Update

Automatically updating the Patch Knowledge Base requires a permanent Internet connection. If your Patch Manager is not connected to the Internet, you can still keep the Patch Knowledge Base up-to-date. This process consists of downloading the files on another device, putting them on the Patch Manager and updating the Patch Knowledge Base with these files. To do so, proceed as follows:

  1. Download the following four files:

    http://xml.shavlik.com/data/oem/BMC-Numara/data/80/hf7b.cab ]

    http://xml.shavlik.com/data/oem/BMC-Numara/data/80/pd5.cab ]

    http://xml.shavlik.com/data/oem/SET-CL5/8.0.43.0/cl5.cab ]

  1. Put the four files into the [BMC Installation Directory] /data/PatchManagementPremium/update folder on the Patch Manager device. If the folder does not exist yet, create it.
  2. In the Console , go to Patch Management > Patch Manager > Your Patch Manager > Configuration and double-click any line of the table in the right window frame.
     The Properties dialog box appears.
  3. From the Update Type drop-down list select Local Update and click OK .
  4. To update the Patch Knowledge Base , click Update .
  5. Wait until Database Status displays the status The patch database is up to date. Be aware, that this does not mean that the Patch Knowledge Base is also of the newest available version! This status only indicates for a local agent, that its database version is the same as that of the master database, and for the master, that its version corresponds to the last downloaded update. successful.png.

You manually updated the Patch Knowledge Base of Patch Manager with files on your local device. To update the Patch Knowledge Base again at a later time, put the four files into the updatefolder and click Update again.
