Defining OS Drivers
If in addition to the drivers provided on the installation CD/DVD you need more drivers you can also defined them manually.
You can also define here all different drivers that might be required by the operating systems for its regular functioning once it is installed on the target devices, such as the keyboard or mouse drivers, video and audio drivers, modem drivers, and so on In this example we will define the driver for a graphics card.
- Go to the OS Deployment > Your OSD Manager > Drivers > OS Drivers node.
- To do so click the Create Driver
icon.
The Create a New Driver window appears. Define the following parameters:
Parameter
Description
Name
Enter a name for the new driver, for example N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC.
Driver Type
This drop down list defines the type of the driver, that is, if it is a network driver, a SATA disk driver, a keyboard driver, and so on Select the Display value from the list.
Driver .inf File
Enter into this text box the name and path of the .inf file of the driver. This is the path on the local device, that is, the OSD Manager, and to be entered as such with the drive letter and the name of the file, for example, D:/Drivers/TEXTORM/chipset/Vista32/Ethernet/nvfd6032.inf. You can also indicate a path to a removable device, such as a DVD drive, because the driver files will be copied to a specific directory in the BMC Client Management - Software Distribution. To find the file in its directory structure click Select. The Driver File window appears. It provides the directory structure of the currently selected OSD Manager. Browse the directories to find the correct file, select it and then click OK to add it.
- To verify click Check Driver to the right of the Status box.
CM will now verify all entries of this page, that is, the directory and the access rights to it and fill in the remaining text boxes with the recovered information, such as the list of driver files. If all values are correct the Status Done is returned, otherwise an error message displays in the Status box indicating where the parameter value is not correct. - After the Status Done is returned click OK to add the new driver to the list and return to the OS Drivers window.
- Repeat preceding steps to add other necessary drivers.
The new driver will be automatically created under the driver class node to which it belongs, for example, all graphic card drivers will be created under the Video node. If the folder for this class does not yet exist it is created.
