Launching a Test Deployment via a Test Project
After you have configured your OSD Manager and all other requirements you can start by creating a test project. A test project is a fully built project that can be installed on target as a dry run. It is like a ghost and its objects are real OSD objects that can be reused by other projects later on.
- Go to the OS Deployment > Your OSD Manager > Configuration node.
- Select an entry in the table and then click Properties
. - Click Create New Test Project at the bottom of the window.
The Create a New Test Project window appears. - Enter the subnet mask for the targets of this test project into the Scope field, for example,192.168.1.*. . Make sure this subnet includes your test device.
- Click OK .
- The build process is launched and the focus of the console is moved to the OSD Dashboard .
- You can follow the build process in the first lines above the table. The project is finished when the Build Status Build completed successfully. appears.
- If an error message is shown instead you need to return to your configurations and correct the issue encountered during the build.
- Then relaunch the test project build from step 2.
- After the build is successfully done, boot a device within your scope with PXE activated.
- The device will "install" the project without actually making any modifications.
