Troubleshooting communication problems

Issue

Connections in the WAN are usually less stable than in the LAN and the default communication settings are not optimized for this. In BMC Client Management version 21.02.02 and later, it is possible to modify the advanced communication parameters based on the network environment.

Workaround

This solution must be applied on all agents (Master, Relay and Client) for all network environments.

  1. Create a new operational rule.
  2. Add the Agent Parameter Setup step.
  3. In the Agent Communication section, change the value of the following parameters:
    • Default Timeout for TCP Based Communication (sec) = 30
    • Default Timeout for TCP Based Connections  (sec) = 30
    • Connection Queue Max Size = 50
  4. In the Agent Communication Advanced section, change the value of the following parameters:
    • Tunneled Sockets Send Buffer Size (bytes) = 300000
    • Tunneled Sockets Receive Buffer Size (bytes) = 300000
    • Tunnel Timeout (sec) =120
  5. Add the HTTP Module Setup step and change the value of the following parameter:
    • Maximum Thread Count = 150
  6. Add the Relay Module Setup step.
  7. In the Parent Relay section, change the value of the following parameter:
    • Tunnel to Parent = YES
  8. Add the Restart Agent step.
