Managing events and alerts by using the web console


BMC Client Management enables you to manage the alerts and events associated with a device by using the web console. This feature helps you to quickly visualize the general state of the device.

To view the alerts and events

To view the alerts and events associated with a device using web console:

  1. Open the web console by using the following URL.
    https://<MasterServername/IP>:<Port>/webconsole/
  2. Search for a device from the web console. 
  3. Select that device and go to the Alerts and Events tab. 
    A list of alerts and events associated with that device is displayed.

To filter alerts and events

  1. Select the desired event log model from the Model Name list.
  2. To filter for a specific status of the current model, use the Advanced Filter option.
  3. Select the following criteria to further filter the alerts and events of the selected model:
    • Select a specific status value from the Status list to display only alerts and events of a specific status type.
    • To filter for events of a specific timeframe, select the start and end date of the required timeframe by using the calendar.
      You can use multiple criteria for filtering.
  4. Click Apply Filter.

The list is refreshed and only the alerts and events complying with the filter criteria are displayed.

To acknowledge alerts and events

To acknowledge specific alerts:

  1. Select the alerts and events to be acknowledged from the list.
  2. Click Acknowledge Alerts.
    A confirmation window is displayed.
  3. Click Yes to confirm.

The status of the selected alerts changes from Unnotified Alerts to Acknowledged Alerts.

To purge alerts and events

All alerts and events of this event log model for the current device are irrevocably deleted from the database after purging. 

  1. Select the alerts and events to be purged from the list.
  2. Click Purge.
    A confirmation window is displayed.
  3. Click Yes to confirm.

To delete alerts and events

It is possible to delete individual alerts and events that are no longer required.

  1. Select the alerts and events to be deleted from the list.
  2. Click Delete.
    A confirmation window appears.
  3. Click Yes to confirm.

All selected alerts and events are deleted from the database.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
