Installing BMC Client Management on macOS with Apple silicon


BMC Client Management version 21.02 is not natively compatible with Apple Silicon M1 chip available on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac. To install BMC Client Management on the devices that use macOS with Apple Silicon M1 chip, you must first install the Rosetta 2 overlay. Rosetta is a dynamic binary translator developed by Apple on MacOS Big Sur and later. It enables compatibility between the executables based on the Intel architecture while the editors adapt and compile their software on the ARM architecture.

To install Rosetta

There are two ways to install Rosetta.

  • When you run an executable that is not compatible with Apple Silicon M1 chip, you might be asked to install Rosetta.

    Click Install and then enter your user name and password. Rosetta is installed and will be available for the applications that need it. For more information about Rosetta, go to support.apple.com.

  • If you don't see the prompt to install Rosetta, run the following command to install it manually:

    softwareupdate --install-rosetta

    Now you can install BMC Client Management by the pull or push method.
