Creating a custom package


In this window, the basic parameters of the new custom package must be configured:

  1. Enter a name for the new custom package.
  2. Define the basic parameters for the package by selecting the necessary options from the drop-down lists or selecting/clearing the respective options.

    Option

    Description

    Folder

    Defines the path where the package is to be created.

    Enable Compression

    Enables the compression of the object.

    Dynamic Package

    Defines if the package contents are to be dynamically updated. Dynamically updating indicates that the contents of all folders which are part of the package is verified and collected at the time of package publication. In this way, if any files are added to the folder after it was added to the package, these are also included.

    Mapping

    Defines if the package or part of the package contents are mapped to another location.

    Force Reassignment when Published

    Defines that the reassignment is automatically forced whenever the package is published.

    Publication Folder

    Defines the path under which the package is to be published on the master and/or relay, for example, Upgrades/Adobe/Acrobat.

    Archive Type

    The type of file in which the package is stored. Possible values are the .zip format and the BCM Deploy proprietary .pkg format.

  3. In the Options panel, define which other package configuration operations you need to perform by selecting the respective options.

    Installation Options

    Defines a specific installation and overwrite conditions.

    Pre-install Script

    Runs a script before the installation.

    Present and Absent Files

    Enables specific files to be already installed or not installed on the target machine for the installation to be launched.

    Post-install Script

    Runs a script after the installation.

    Run as Options

    Defines which login the script is to use and what to do if the login fails.

    Add Files

    Adds the files to the custom package.

  4. Click Next to continue.

Custom Package installation options

In this window, all parameters about the actual installation process must be defined:

  1. Enter the required information in text boxes of the Installation panel and make your selections by selecting the respective options.

    Option

    Description

    Destination Path

    Defines the destination path for the installation.

    Run Command

    Defines a command which is to be executed after the installation has taken place such as directly launching the software. It is possible to use environment variables with the run command which are enclosed in ${}. If the package is to be installed via network installation, this parameter must be filled in.

    Fast Installation

    Defines that the installation time is to be faster due to fewer verification checks after the package has arrived at the destination.

    Run Program in its Context

    Defines if the program is to be launched from its installation location (selected) or the agent directory (cleared).

    Use a shell

    Select this option to run the command in a shell. Output redirection is functional when shell is used.

  2. In the Overwrite panel define which files the package can overwrite when installing on the target and which it is not to touch, by selecting the respective options. The following options are available:
    • Overwrite Non-system Files
    • Overwrite System Files
    • Overwrite older file versions only
    • Overwrite read-only files
  3. Click Next to continue.
