Patch management with SQL Server or PostgreSQL database

With the recent KB update, where Shavlik introduced a file size for storing Windows 10 service packs, you might face issues while managing patches in BCM. This causes an issue in the way BCM stores information in its master database.

The impact of this issue is that many patches are not stored into the database and patches released since November 2016 cannot be managed by BCM.

Specifically, the issue causes the following BCM behavior:

  • Patches previously added to a patch group/job will be removed
  • Patches detected in patch inventories will not be listed as missing or installed

Impacts

  • All versions of BCM.

Hotfix

You can download the latest hotfix for the BCM version running in your environment from the electronic product download site.
