The Icon bar

In much the same way as the pop-up menus and the main menu bar, the console icon bar changes its contents according to the selection you made in the left pane.

The buttons available on the icon bar represent the most common options available in the pop-up menu and the main menu. If you place your cursor on a button, a tooltip will be displayed describing the button's function. You can also call the Online Help on this item by pressing the F1 function key. The actions executed through these icons are executed on objects in the right window pane, not on objects in the left pane.

The following icons are always present in the icon bar:iconbar_screenshot.png

Icon

Function

refresh.png

The general Refresh icon refreshes the contents of the console. This option can also be found under: Edit > Refresh

lock.png

This icon allows the user of the console to lock it from further use. The Login window appears and the user has to enter the user name and password to unlock the console. This option can also be found under: Edit > Lock Console

fullscreen.png

You can toggle the size of the console screen between the "normal" display, that is, the tree structure in the left window pane and the object data in the right part, and fullscreen in which case the left window pane will disappear and the icon bar, which will appear as a separate panel next to the maximized console window. This option can also be found under: Edit > Maximize

cut.png

The Cut icon provides access to the general cut actions of the console. Cutting an object means removing the currently selected object(s) completely from a view and placing them in the paste buffer. If no further Paste action is performed, the cut object is placed into the Lost and Found view, if it does not exist in any other view or hierarchy. The Cut action is dimmed until you select an object in a view. This option can also be found under: Edit > Cut

copy.png

The Copy icon provides access to the general copy actions of the console. You can copy any object of the console into the clipboard, and object items such as subreports or operational rule steps. The Copy action is dimmed until you select an object in a view. This option can also be found under: Edit > Copy

paste.png

The Paste icon provides access to the general paste actions of the console. You can paste any object from the clipboard to a possible location into the console. This means that you can paste for example a copied or cut administrator from one administrator group to another, but you will not be able to paste the administrator into an operational rules table. However it is possible to paste the copied steps of an operational rule to another rule. The Paste action is dimmed until you place an object into the clipboard via the Cut or Copy action. This option can also be found under: Edit > Paste

destroy.png

The Delete icon provides access to the general delete actions of the console. You can delete any object from a console view. The delete operation purges the object from the database and thus it completely disappears from the view. Do not delete objects that you want to use elsewhere. Be aware, that you can delete the folder or group but not the objects that are contained in it; the children are put into the Lost and Found node if they are not members of any other group. For objects which are used elsewhere, such as queries, operational rules, devices and groups, that is, which have an assignment with another object, a warning displays before the delete action. The Delete action is dimmed until you select an object in a view. For administrators functioning as populators you can choose to transfer the direct access rights (not those inherited via a group) to another administrator.

properties.png

The Properties icon provides access to the general property editing and viewing functions of the console. You can view or modify some or all properties in the tabs provided by the information view, depending on the object. This option can also be found under: Edit > Properties

node.png

The Help Current Node icon provides you with access to the context sensitive on-line help page for the currently selected node. You can also call this Help page by pressing the F1 function key with the selected node enabled. This option can also be found under: Help > Help Current Node
