The console dashboard
The console window opens with the requested connection and its default language, that is, the language of the operating system if it is either German, French, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese or UK English, otherwise it is US English. The title bar displays the name of the master server you just logged on to and the directory listing in the left window pane displays the main objects of the CM database.
The right window pane displays the dashboard. It provides some general information about the objects in your database, and shortcuts to some functionalities such as license management and the wizards. Any functionalities/objects to which the currently logged administrator does not have the license or the capabilities/access rights will not be displayed.
What is the Advisories box?
This box appears the following information:
- The number of administrators currently connected to the console.
- The number of open tasks for the currently connected administrator, if there are any.
- The update status of the patch database and its current version number, that is, the colored bullet icon indicates if the patch database files must be updated before any patch analysis can be executed. The bullet is green, if the database is up to date.
- The number of new alerts, if there are any.
- The number of notified alerts, if there are any.
What is the Recent Connections box?
This box lists the names of the devices to which you last connected to in the console. If this is the first time you log on, this list will still be empty.
What is the Recent Activities box?
Here you can see the list of the nodes that you accessed most frequently.
What is the Did you know? box?
This part provides you with a link to more information about the BMC Software products and to your license status.
What do the different charts display?
On the top right of your console window a number of charts are available that provide information about different aspects of your network, such as the distribution of your devices according to their topology type or the patches by their severity status. You can browse these charts by clicking the left and right arrows below the carousel. To show the contents of a chart click the little box in the upper right corner of the respective chart, to minimize it select the cascading icon in the same place that is shown now.
What is the Instant Expert box?
This box appears alternately with the Wizards box and provides access to the Instant Expert guided tasks functionality of the console. These guided tasks introduce the respective functionalities and provide first step examples for their use.
What is the Wizards box?
This box appears alternately with the Instant Expert box and provides shortcuts for the main object wizards available in the console.
