Solution sizing baseline
This topic describes the baseline architecture for the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite. For successful deployment, each of the product subcomponents needs to be adequately sized. Also, each product needs to be redundant to ensure that failure of a single product does not bring the whole BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite environment to a halt.
The combined architecture for the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite is presented with high availability (HA) and default security configuration, showing the flow of information between the individual products. Note that because the BMC Remedy ITSM applications and BMC Atrium CMDB are hosted in the BMC Remedy AR System server, they are both represented in the BMC Remedy AR System environment.
Sizing of each product in the solution is based on the individual load on each product sample use case, and is represented in the following table.
The example given is a based on a number of assumptions, and your requirements will be different. Your environment and requirements should be gathered to adjust the information and totals accordingly.
Solution baseline
Although some components can support more volume at a product level, BMC recommends that you use the following numbers as a baseline for sizing. Capacity for some components, such as BMC BladeLogic Server Automation or BMC Remedy AR System might be greater than other components due to the need for redundancy.
Environment | Devices | Attributes | Events per day | Measures per hour |
---|---|---|---|---|
Small | 5000 | < 50,000 | < 5,000 | 50,000 |
Medium | 50000 | 300,000 | < 50,000 | 350,000 |
Large | 100000 | 600,000 | < 100,000 | 700,000 |
The following diagram summarizes the recommended baseline architecture for the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite deployment, which includes the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite core components. The diagram is also available
.For detailed information about all ports used in BSM solutions, see Default ports for BMC components. For a key to the product abbreviations used in the diagram, see Deployment architecture (DCA).
The following table is based on the "baseline" sizing with HA, which does not necessarily represent any particular customer:
