Viewing synthetic health reports

For applications with synthetic transaction monitoring enabled and synthetic metric rules defined, you can view reports of the applications' compliance with and violations of the defined rules.

Reports can be for various time ranges from a single day to an entire month. You can also compare the results with similar time ranges, for example you can view a comparison of today and yesterday.

Four graphs are displayed on the page. There are three individual graphs for the application's defined Availability, Accuracy, and Performance metrics, and an additional graph that shows the average and maximum response times of the application during the selected time range.

You can export the report, either as an image of the graphs available on the page, or as raw data that you can then analyze on your own.

Before you begin

Before you can view reports based on the health of your synthetic transaction executions, ensure that your system includes the following:

To view synthetic health reports

  1. From the navigation pane in the TrueSight console, select Monitoring > Applications.
  2. Select an application that you want to examine in detail.
If synthetic monitoring is enabled for a manually created application, the Synthetic Health tab opens by default.
  3. On the Synthetic Health tab, click the report icon syn_report_icon.png in the upper-right corner.

The reports page includes four graphs.

  • The first three graphs show compliance and violation of the application's defined Availability, Accuracy, and Performance rules during the selected time range. This is displayed as a bar graph and as a a donut chart.
    • If you are viewing a daily report, each bar represents one hour. If you are viewing a weekly or monthly report, each bar represents one day.
    • The donut shows total percentages for the entire selected time range.
  • The fourth graph shows the average and maximum response time of the application during the selected time range.

To change the scale of the graphs

If all of your non-compliant results are only in the top few percentage points, you may not be interested in seeing the full bars. You can click AutoScale Y Axis to change the scale of the Y axis of the graphs to show only relevant data.

Click a tile to analyze the synthetic health details of your application performance and availability for that hour.

If necessary, adjust synthetic metric rules to better reflect the critical data you need for your environment.
