Overview of the enhancements

This section describes the enhancements.

Enhancements to BMC AMI Ops Automation for Batch ThruPut

This section summarizes the enhancements to BMC AMI Ops Automation for Batch ThruPut:

  • Job Scheduler Intelligence support for Broadcom ESP
ThruPut Manager ascertains from ESP when a job must start and end. ThruPut Manager uses this information to determine a job's urgency and therefore its position in the execution queue. ThruPut Manager also uses this information to determine when a job should be considered late and therefore a candidate for late job acceleration to speed up execution. Other job-related information from ESP is also now available for use by  Job Action Language (JAL).
To enable this functionality, you must enable the Due Out Propagation ESP option and supply either a late submission time or due out time for one or more milestone jobs.
ThruPut Manager fully supports Control-M and IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS).

  • Enhanced logging to the JES2 job log
Various JES2 job–related commands (for example, $AJ, $CJ, and $HJ) are now logged to the JES2 Job Log for the job together with the ID of the operator that issued the command, eliminating the need for time–consuming system log searches.
  • Automated initiator algorithms upgraded to anticipate HOLDUNTL expiry
The automation algorithms for initiators now consider if any jobs using JES2 HOLDUNTL are about to be released to make sure that they are selected promptly, subject to current system performance conditions. This upgrade handles situations in which a job scheduler deliberately submits jobs in advance and uses the HOLDUNTL facility to prevent them starting before the intended time.
  • Enforcement of the order of JES2 LOADMOD statements
BMC AMI Ops Automation for Batch ThruPut requires placing the JES2 initialization parameter LOADMOD statement for module DTMJ2SV8 before the LOADMOD statement for module DTMJ2MV8. It checks for the correct ordering of the LOADMOD statements, and if the order is incorrect, an error message is issued, and ThruPut Manager will not initialize.

Enhancement to all editions of ThruPut Manager

This section summarizes the enhancements to all editions of ThruPut Manager:

Detail Action Language (DAL) enhancements

DAL now supports:

  • New SMF 30 fields added by z/OS 3.1.
  • Changing tape unit affinity for concatenated DD statements, adding yet another way in which ThruPut Manager eliminates the need to change JCL for standards enforcement. For more information, see List of DAL elements (G-L).

Superseded APARs

The following APARs have been superseded:

  • TR81014
  • TR81019
  • TR81020
  • TR81021
