Viewing exception history
Visualizer graphically displays exceptions to acceptable daily performance thresholds. It also lets you view exceptions in perspective. With exception history reports, you can answer questions such as: is this a one-time exception or is it the forerunner to a long-term problem? Viewing daily exceptions in historical context helps you understand the current problem and find a long-term solution.
- Scan the database for exceptions if you have not done so already (turn to Scanning-a-database-for-exceptions).
- Select Graphics > Exception to open the Exception Summary for <date> dialog box.
- Click History .
The component Exception History dialog box is displayed. Drag the cursor from the right to the left in the horizontal scroll bar opposite the From field to view the initial date in your history file. Scan History is disabled until you move the cursor to the left.
- Click Scan History. Once the scan is done, the Exception History report shows component name, value, and the number of intervals exceeding the specified threshold. Scan History becomes disabled again.
- Click Close to exit the Exception History dialog box.
- Select the Use start time from exception history to show detail report box.
- Click Detail Report to view the details of the exception summary.
- Double-click an exception value to view its corresponding graph.
