Installing the Intelligent Instant Message Bot for BMC Virtual Chat
Note
Microsoft Lync integration with BMC Virtual Chat is a legacy feature. This feature is available only if you enabled it before upgrading to BMC Virtual Chat 9.1.02.
To enable chat from Microsoft Lync, you must run the VirtualAgentService application as a Microsoft Windows service.
To install the Intelligent Instant Message Bot
- On the application server, locate the Lync folder and from that folder run setup.exe.
- At the Welcome to the Intelligent Instant Message Bot Setup Wizard page, click Next.
- At the Select Installation Folder page, keep the default folder location and select the Everyone option.
- At the Confirm Installation page, click Next.
- At the Installation Complete page, click Close.
- Configure the VirtualAgentIntelligentImBot service.
- Select Start > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Right-click the VirtualAgentService service and select Properties.
- In the General tab, change the Startup type from Manual to Automatic.
- In the Log On tab, change the log on account to Local System Account.
Click OK.
Note
If you use another account to run the service, the account must be added to the RTC Component Local Group on the application server.
- Start the VirtualAgentService service.
- Select Start > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Right click the VirtualAgentService service and select Start.

It appears that the name of the service listed in the documentation is incorrect. When I use the installer provided, it installs a service as VirtualAgentService.
Sorry about that! I think I missed the name change.
Looks good other than step 6b still references the old name.
Have made the change in step 6b as well.
I have installed the agent as listed out in the document but service does not get started
it gives error that : "Virtual agent service started and stopped on the local machine. Some services stop automatically if they are not used by some service or application"
My VirtualAgentIntelligentImBot contact does not appear online but is visible as contact , is that because Virtual agent service is stopped.
Yes, the VirtualAgentIntelligentImBot is online only when the Virtual Agent service is running.
