Deployment types
You can deploy the components of TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation (TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse and TrueSight Smart Reporting) in a variety of ways to best suit your organizational needs. Before installing, carefully review the system requirements information in the Planning-1 topic.
You can use only one TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse instance with a TrueSight Smart Reporting instance.
TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse deployments can be local (single site) or centralized (multiple sites). In addition, you can deploy TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse in multi-tenant environments.
Most enterprises have requirements for documenting and testing the ability of their infrastructure to sustain loss at various levels. These levels can range from the loss of a server to the loss of the physical infrastructure of an entire data center. Typical highly available deployments are implemented within a single data center because these deployments have high demands on local resources to provide fault tolerance.
Single-site deployment
In a single-site deployment, data comes from a single TrueSight Server Automation database that is used to populate the reports data warehouse.
Multi-site deployment
In a multi-site deployment, data comes from multiple sites. This means, multiple independent locations (with locally managed servers) provide data to a central reports data warehouse for consolidated, enterprise-wide reporting. Multiple TrueSight Server Automation databases populate the central reports data warehouse. In multi-site deployments, one TrueSight Server Automation database must be identified as the Primary site. This topic illustrates an example of a multi-site TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse deployment.
In this example:
- Site 1 is the primary site.
- The central reports data warehouse gets data from sites 1, 2, 3, and 4.
After the initial TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse installation, you can add and modify sites by using the TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse console.
Multi-tenancy deployment
Multi-tenancy enables you to run a single instance of TrueSight Server Automation that serves multiple client organizations (also called tenants). In a multi-tenant environment, an organization uses a single TrueSight Server Automation database to store data for multiple tenants.
You can implement multi-tenancy by using TrueSight Server Automation and TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse. The CUSTOMER property of a server in TrueSight Server Automation and a corresponding CUSTOMER server property available in all domains in TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse help you to implement multi-tenancy.
