Executing management tasks on Citrix XenServer
You can perform a variety of management tasks when managing a Citrix Xenserver environment, such as starting, stopping, and renaming a virtual machine.
To execute management tasks on Citrix XenServer
- In the Servers folder, navigate to a XenServer host server object and expand the Live node.
Expand the Citrix XenServer server object type and then expand the list of hosts. All virtual machines configured within the host are displayed. The icon for the virtual machine indicates the current status.
Right-click a virtual machine. From the pop-up menu, select any of the management tasks described in the following table.
Starts a virtual machine.
Shuts down the OS on the virtual machine (if present), and then powers off the virtual machine.
Immediately powers off a virtual machine.
Restarts the OS (if present) on the virtual machine. If an operating system is not present, it powers off and then powers on the virtual machine.
Halts and then boots the virtual machine without gracefully restarting the OS (if present) on the virtual machine.
Convert to template
Converts a virtual machine into a custom template.
Stops a virtual machine.
Starts a virtual machine that has been suspended.
Renames the virtual machine. You cannot rename a virtual machine by deploying a BLPackage. You must use the Rename ad-hoc action.
Deletes the virtual machine.
Displays a read-only view of the virtual machine properties, such as path, status and various start and reboot options.
- When you right-click a XenServer Custom Template, you can select the Delete Template option. There are no management actions available for a XenServer Template.
