Configuring the file server
File server configuration is not required if you installed or upgraded using the unified product installer. This configuration is performed automatically by the unified installer.
TrueSight Server Automation uses the file server to store the contents of files included in snapshots, Network Shell scripts, BLPackages, software packages, and other types of information that is not easily stored in the database. In addition, the file server stores registry, COM+, and metabase values longer than 255 characters.
The following table lists the tasks that are involved in configuring a file server:
|Meet the file server requirements||Prior to setting up a file server, review the file server requirements.|
|Set up the file server||To configure a file server, you must specify a host and directory in which TrueSight Server Automation stores content. Before you can start TrueSight Server Automation for the first time after a fresh installation, you must perform the procedure described in this topic.|
|Change the location of the file server||TrueSight Server Automation supports the use of only one file server at a time. This file server includes one host and one root directory location. In certain cases, you might need to change the location of the file server. Learn how to change the location.|
|Configure the file server agent Access Control Lists||The TrueSight Server Automation file server requires special agent ACLs because non-administrative users might require write access to the Depot storage directory on the file server. Learn how to configure these ACLs.|
