Browsing Citrix XenServer hosts

From the Citrix XenServer agentless managed object, you can browse a Citrix XenServer host to review a variety of server objects (such as Virtual Machines, Custom Templates, and XenServer Templates).

To browse a Citrix XenServer host

Prior to browsing Citrix XenServer virtual assets, you must have distributed the Citrix XenServer configuration object to the Linux server configured as the agentless managed object, as described in Distributing configuration objects.

  1. In the Servers folder, navigate to the Citrix XenServer agentless managed object.
  2. Right-click the server object and select Browse.
  3. In the Live Browse tab or the content editor, expand the Live node.
  4. Expand the Citrix XenServer server object type to display the nodes. If your XenServer environment is configured to use resource pools, then a Pool Configuration object is displayed. If you do not have a pool configuration, then the display shows a list of hosts.
  5. Expand a host. The following table describes the structure of the host server.

    View

    Description

    Custom Templates

Contains the custom templates resident on the host.

    Host Configuration

Shows the properties of the host server. For each host, you can view the following:

    • General — Displays general properties for the XenServer host, such as memory configuration, version information, license information, number of CPUs and management information.
    • Storage — Displays a high level view of all removable storage, local storage, and DVD drives for the host.
    • Network — Displays network configuration information for the host.
    • NICs — Displays information about the network interface cards on the host.

    Host Storage

Displays a high level view of DVD drives, local drives, and removable storage for the host. You can then drill down to see the virtual disks within each of these storage repositories.

    List of all virtual machines

Lists all the Virtual Machines on the XenServer, in alphabetical order, and the status for each. For each Virtual Machine, you can view:

    • General — Displays general properties for the Virtual Machine such as memory, virtual CPUs, boot parameters, and so on.
    • Storage – Displays information for the virtual disks attached to the Virtual Machine.
    • Network — Displays information for the virtual network interface cards attached to the Virtual Machine.

  6. Expand the XenServer Templates object type. This view lists the XenServer-provided templates available on the selected host or Pool. For each template, you can view the associated network settings, the name and description of the template, and configuration information, such as memory and virtual CPUs.
  7. Expand the resource pool object, if available to display information of the resource pool configuration. The following table describes the structure of the Pool Configuration object type.

    View

    Description

    Pool Configuration

Shows information about the following characteristics of the Pool:

    • General — Displays general properties for the pool, such as memory configuration, version information, license information, number of CPUs and management information.
    • Pool Storage — Displays information about all of the removable storage, local storage, and DVD drives that are available under the pool.
    • Pool Network — Displays network configuration information for the pool.
    • Pool HA — Displays configuration of the High Availability features configured on the Pool (if the license providing this feature is applied to the hosts).
    • Pool WLB — Displays configuration of the workload balancing features that are configured on the Pool (if the license providing this feature is applied to the hosts).

    Pool Custom Templates

Contains the custom templates resident in the pool.

    Pool Storages

Displays all DVD drives, local drives, and removable storage allocated to the pool. You can then drill down to see the virtual disks within each of these storage repositories.

    List of all Hosts

Lists all the Hosts in the Resource Pool, in alphabetical order, and the status for each.

    • List of Custom Templates — Displays the list of custom templates that are not bound to any particular host.
    • List of storages — Displays the list of storage repositories attached to the resource pool.
    • List of virtual machines — Displays the list of Virtual Machines that are not bound to any particular host.
