Troubleshooting BMC Impact Model Designer
The following table displays the error messages you might encounter while using BMC Impact Model Designer and the action that you can perform to resolve these errors.
Error Messages
Error Message | Cause | Action |

Changes submitted could not be saved. Please refer to the log for details. | When you select multiple groups on the Permissions tab in the Edit Component Properties dialog box, BMC Impact Model Designer tries to save all the groups as a single string in the BMC Atrium CMDB. However, the length of the string to be saved in the BMC Atrium CMDB must not exceed 255 characters. | Deselect one or more groups on the Permissions tab in the Edit Component Properties dialog box. |
Javax.naming.CommunicationException: Failed to retrieve stub from server <server_name> | This error might be displayed when you try to connect to the publishing server. | Use the psstat CLI command to connect to the publishing server. If this does not resolve the error, add the name of the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server to the host file. The host file is located at <system_drive>\Windows\system32\drivers\etc. |
Selected relationship types not valid | You might have chosen a relationship other than the type 'Impact'. | You can edit only the 'Impact' type of relationship. Only impact relationships are recognized by the cell. For information about creating and editing component relationships, see the BMC Atrium CMDB User's Guide. |
