Authorizing and unauthorizing assets from a software title (2022 Release 01)

You can use Track-It! to authorize or unauthorize assets linked to applications in the Software Title form to determine the compliance status of your assets for a particular software title. An asset is considered compliant when it is authorized for a particular software title installed on it. When you link an application to a software title, and perform an asset synchronization, all the assets on which the application is installed are updated in the Assets section of the Software Title form. For more information, see Synchronizing assets.

To authorize assets

  1. On the header bar, expand the hamburger menu and select Software Licenses module.
  2. On the Software Licenses page, double-click to open the software title.
  3. In the Software Title form, in the Assets section, select the assets to be authorized.
  4. Click and select Authorize.

The selected assets are authorized in Track-It! and BCM, and the license consumption data on the Software Title form is updated.

To unauthorize assets

  1. On the header bar, expand the hamburger menu and select Software Licenses module.
  2. On the Software Licenses page, double-click to open the software title.
  3. In the Software Title form, in the Assets section, select the assets to be unauthorized.
  4. Click and select Unauthorize.

The selected assets are unauthorized in Track-It! and BCM, and the license consumption data on the Software Title form is updated.

To filter assets

You can filter the assets in the Assets section on the Software Title form.

  1. On the Software Licenses page, double-click to open the software title.
  2. In the Software Title form, in the Assets section, click to display the filter options.
  3. Select one of the following filter values from the list:
    • Unauthorized: All unauthorized assets are displayed. By default, the filter is set to display all unauthorized assets.
    • Authorized: All authorized assets are displayed.
    • All: All assets, authorized and unauthorized, are displayed.

The assets are filtered as per the applied value.
