Licenses
After you obtain a Track-It! license, you can upload and apply the license file that has the extension .licx. For more information, see Applying a License file.
The following table provides information about licenses in Track-It!:
License type | Description |
---|---|
Self Service | These licenses are consumed when you provide Self Service access to your requestors. |
Concurrent | These licenses are consumed when a technician logs in and is released when a technician logs out. |
Named | These licenses are assigned to specific technicians. |
Inventory Audit (agents) | These licenses are consumed when a BMC Client Management agent is rolled out to audit an asset. |
Agentless Hardware/Software Inventory | These licenses are consumed when BMC Client Management performs an agentless discovery of hardware and software details of an asset. |
Remote Control | These licenses are consumed when a BMC Client Management agent is rolled out to remotely control an asset. |
Barcode | These licenses are consumed when a Mobile device is registered using Track-It! Mobile App for scanning Barcode assets. Note When you use a new mobile device to scan an asset tag or serial number, a Barcode license is automatically consumed and registered to the mobile device. You can release and retire any registered mobile device from its Barcode license by un-registering it. For more information, see Applying a license file. |
Consider the following important points about Track-It! licenses:
For example, your Track-It! installation has three concurrent and three named licenses and three technicians with concurrent licenses are currently logged in to the application. If a fourth technician with a concurrent license tries to log in, an error message is displayed indicating there are no available licenses. However, if a technician with a named license tries to log in, they are granted access because their license is assigned specifically to them.
If all the named licenses assigned to technicians are consumed because of overallocation of licenses through the License Update page, then technicians with a named license cannot log in to Track-It!. If a technician with a named license tries to log in, then the following error message is displayed on the Track-It! login page:
Unable to log on. There are more named license users than the system is licensed for. Contact your Track-It! administrator.
Example
Assume that your Track-It! installation has five named licenses assigned to five technicians. When one of these technicians tries to log in to Track-It!, an error message is displayed on the Track-It! login page and the technician cannot log in.
Managing named licenses in Track-It! (2020 Release 03)
If all the named licenses assigned to technicians are consumed because of overallocation of licenses through the License Update page, then only system administrators with a named license can log in to Track-It! provided that they unassign an appropriate number of named licenses after logging in. To unassign the named licenses, the system administrator must perform these steps:
The Manage Named Licenses dialog box is displayed as shown in the following figure:
Click Yes.
Notes
A message in red font color is displayed on the Assign Named License dialog box as shown in the following figure:
Note
The Assign Named License dialog box provides a list of technicians that have been assigned a named license. This list does not include the system administrator that has logged in to unassign the named licenses.
In the Named License column in the grid, select an appropriate number of check boxes to assign the named license to technicians and clear an appropriate number of check boxes to unassign the named licenses.
After you unassign named licenses, the Assign Named License dialog box is displayed with a message in green font color as shown in the following figure:
Click Save.
Note
Make sure that you have unassigned an appropriate number of named licenses in the Assign Named License dialog box.
The named licenses to the technicians are unassigned. The system administrator is redirected to the Track-It! login page and can now log in to Track-It!. Technicians with a named license can now log in to Track-It!.
Note
If you click Cancel in the Assign Named License dialog box without unassigning an appropriate number of named licenses, then you are redirected to the Track-It! login page but you cannot log in to Track-It! again. To log in to Track-It! from the Track-It! login page again, follow these steps:
Clear your browser cache.
