Configuring job monitor settings

The job monitor evaluates the Business Rules and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The job monitor settings enable you to configure the frequency of polling, the number of actions to perform, the duration for timeouts, and the number of retries. The default settings are configured to perform optimally.

You can start or stop the job monitor service.

Important

If you modify the job monitor settings, you must stop and start the Job Monitor.

To configure job monitor settings

  1. On the header bar, expand the hamburger  menu and select Configuration.
  2. Click SLAs and Business Rules and then click Job Monitor Settings.
  3. In the Poll Interval (minutes) field, enter a preferred numerical value.
This value determines how often the database is polled for jobs that require processing.

    Important

The processing interval is different for SLA rules and Business Rules. The SLA rules take up to 5 minutes for polling, irrespective of the set Poll Interval value.

    Example

If the poll interval for both SLA rules and Business Rules is set to 1 minute, the server takes approximately 2 minutes to fully process a Business Rule or an SLA because it first identifies the action in the first poll cycle and runs the action in the second poll cycle.

  4. In the Advanced Settings section, perform the following actions:
    1. In Jobs to Process (records) field, enter a numerical value.
This value determines the maximum number of jobs processed at each polling interval. The jobs are processed on a first-in, first-out basis.
    2. Specify the duration for the Job Timeout setting.
This values determines the maximum amount of time a job can be assigned to a service for processing without successful completion.
    3. From the Retry Limit list, select a value.
The application server tries to process the job.
    4. (Optional) To enable tracing, select the Enable Job Event Logging on the Track-It! Server check box.
This setting creates an output that you can view by using the debug utility. For more information, see Using Track-It! utilities.
  5. Click Save.
