9.0.00.B Fix Pack

Fix Packs do not contain all of the files that are required for a complete product installation. Fix Packs are cumulative and contain all updates released prior to the Fix Pack.

Before you install the Fix Pack, you must have previously installed the MainView Middleware Administrator (MVMA) 9.0.00 GA or MainView Middleware Administrator (MVMA) 9.0.00.A  version of the product. See Installing.

Oracle has announced Java 8 will go out of public support in January 2019 (see the Oracle Java Roadmap ), and, subsequently, will no longer publish security updates. As a result, when upgrading from MVMA 9.0.00 GA  this MVMA Fix Pack migrates installations on Windows and Linux to include 64-bit OpenJDK 11 based JREs. This will ensure that regular security updates are available to MVMA customers.

Tip

For information about issues corrected in this Fix Pack, see Known and corrected issues.

Installing the Fix Pack B for MVMA 9.0.00 consists of the following steps, according to your operating environment.

To install the Fix Pack on Linux

  1. Stop the MVMA service.
  2. Ensure MongoDB is not running, stop it if necessary.
  3. To accelerate the upgrade process, the contents of the work/ directory can be deleted.
  4. Make a backup copy of your MVMA installation directory.  For example, the upgrade process replaces the configuration file configuration/wrapper.conf and any changes made to this file needs to be reinstated at the end of the upgrade process. Note that the default installation directory is /opt/BMC/MVMA.
  5. Unzip the file mvma-9.0.00.B-linux-x86-64.zip into the MVMA installation directory. Note that your unzip client may prompt you to overwrite some files - say "Yes" to all of them.
  6. Verify that after the zip has extracted you have fixpacks/mvma-9.0.00.B/ in your installation directory.
  7. From a command prompt, cd to the installation directory and run the following commands:

    ./bin/updatejava

    ./bin/admin --update fixpacks/mvma-9.0.00.B/
  8. Confirm that the update procedure says it was successful.

  9. Reinstate changes made to the configuration file configuration/wrapper.conf.
  10. Restart the MVMA service.
