Running MQSC commands

TrueSight Middleware Administrator enables authorized users to run MQSC commands against one or multiple WebSphere MQ queue managers to administer these queue managers or execute common operations.

To run MQSC commands

  1. Select MQSC Console from the Navigation Panel in the User Console for a selected connection. The MQSC Console is displayed, as shown below.

  2. From within the MQSC console you can run one or multiple commands against multiple connections simultaneously, either by entering them manually or by uploading an MQSC command script.
  3. By default, commands are run against the connection you selected from the Navigation Panel. To select additional connections to which to apply MQSC commands, select the relevant target connections from the list of Available Connections and click < to display them in the list of Connections to Apply Commands.
  4. Enter MQSC Commands to be executed into the text area (one command per line). To run the commands immediately, click the right arrow icon at the top left of your view to run the command
  5. After execution, the result for each command executed is reported, and sorted by the connections selected for execution. To get a better overview of the results in the event that many commands were run against multiple connections, you can collapse or expand each node in the results tree.

  6. To schedule the MQSC commands for later execution, click the Calendar icon in the options bar and set the relevant schedule.

The MQSC Console displays confirmation that execution of the commands is scheduled for each selected connection. The results from the command execution can be reviewed either from the Scheduled Tasks view or from the email notification requested with the scheduled task.
  7. To upload and run MQSC commands from a script, select Upload Script from the main options bar to select a command script from your computer. After uploading, it appears in the Enter MQSC Commands section, where it can be reviewed and modified if needed. Run the uploaded MQSC commands as described above.
  8. To save MQSC commands entered within the MQSC Console to a command file, click the Save icon from the main options bar and save the MQSC command script (either for backup purposes or for later use) to your computer.
