Sharing pages and views

Sharing is used to display a link to the current application view that can be copied and pasted into another application in order to share access to the current Administration Console view. (An example of an application used to forward access is email).

There are two manifestations of sharing in TrueSight Middleware Administrator:

  • Global Toolbar sharing. Enables sharing of the entire view (including the Navigation Panel).
  • Workspace sharing. The button here facilitates sharing of the workspace only.

Instructions for each type of sharing are presented in the following sections.

Sharing a page

To share the entire page:

  1. Select share from the Global Actions bar.
  2. A Link text box is displayed with the URL shown.
  3. Paste the link into a target (recipient) URL, or copy it into an e-mail message and send to a different user.
  4. The page is now available to the mail recipient or user associated with the URL.

Sharing workspace contents

To share the current workspace:

  1. Open any Summary View or Properties Editor.
  2. Select the share option within the Options menu for that view (not the share option from the Global Actions Bar):
  3. A Link text box is displayed with the URL shown.
  4. Paste the link into a target (recipient) URL, or copy it into an email message and send to a different user.
  5. The page is now available to the mail recipient or user associated with the URL.

Note

The user receiving the link (who must be logged in and have the relevant project user/group permissions) has their own view of connection properties, which are described in the Using section.
