Installing BMC Remedy Mid Tier (with BMC Atrium Single Sign-On)

When you use the BMC Remedy AR System installer to install the mid tier, you can configure SSO.

  1. Download the BMC Remedy AR System installer on a computer other than where you installed the AR System server.
  2. Open the ARSuiteKitWindow folder.
  3. Open the Disk 1 folder.
  4. Start the installer and double-click setup.cmd.
  5. In the lower right corner of the Welcome panel, click Next.
  6. Review the license agreement, click I agree to the terms of license agreement, and then click Next.
  7. On the Directory Selection window, navigate to the directory in which you want to install the BMC Remedy AR System application.
    The default location is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select Custom Setup to choose specific items to install.
  10. Click the BMC Remedy Action Request System Installation check box to clear all features from the list.
  11. Select Mid-Tier.

  12. Click Next.
    The installer validates the system resources of your computer.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Enter the values from the planning worksheets for the mid tier.
  15. In the AR System Server Administrator Information panel, perform the following steps.

    1. Make sure that the SSO server is running.
    2. Click Yes to integrate Atrium Single Sign-On (SSO) with the mid-tier.
    3. Enter other important information (for example, the password).
    4. Click Next.

      If you enter a fully qualified domain name in the AR System Server name alias field, the installer might display the following error message: Invalid AR System Server name alias <value>. Go back to the AR System Server List panel and add the server name. The installer requires a short name for the AR System Server name alias field. To work around this issue, click the Previous button to return to the AR System Server List panel, and click Add. Enter a valid short name for the server and the correct values for rest of the columns. Navigate to the AR System Server Administrator Information panel, and the short server name should appear in the AR System Server name alias drop-down list.

  16. In the Atrium Single Sign-On Configuration panel, enter the following SSO information:

    Atrium-SSO-Admin-User

    The default SSO administrator user is amAdmin.

    Atrium-SSO-Admin-Password

    The password that you supplied during SSO server installation.

    Atrium-SSO-Truststore-Path

    The path to the default cacerts file in the JRE (for example,
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\security\cacerts).

    Atrium-SSO-Truststore-Password

    The password. The default password for the cacerts file is changeit.

  17. Click Next.
    After you have entered the required information, the installer validates your inputs, and then the Installation Preview panel appears, listing the product and product features that will be installed. You are nearly finished with the mid tier installation.
  18. Click Next.
    After post-installation cleanup, a summary of the installation appears.
  19. Click View Log to review the SEVERE error messages in the product installer log.
    See whether errors are due to network, host, or other environment-related issues. You can view a log file of the installation:
    C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\planner_install_log.txt
  20. Click Done to exit the AR System installer.
  21. Stop and restart the AR System server.
  22. Stop and restart the mid tier.
  23. Open the BMC Remedy Mid Tier Configuration Tool (http://<midTierServer>/arsys/shared/config/config.jsp).
    The default password is arsystem.
  24. Click General Settings.
  25. Select the AR System server as the authentication server, and then click Save Changes.
  26. Log out.
