Data set naming conventions for tailored skeleton JCL

A data set name that is created to contain tailored skeleton JCL must be formatted as follows:

OINDXValue.partialFunctionName.solutionName.Dnnnnn.Tnnnnnnx

The following table describes each element of the data set name.

Tailored skeleton JCL data set naming conventions

Element

Description

OINDXValue

Specifies the value that is specified in the SMMSYS AUTOJ_OINDX parameter

partialFunctionName

Specifies the name of the MainView SRM function that caused the JCL to be tailored and saved, thus creating the data set. All Automation functions begin with the letters AUTO. To save space in the data set name, only the A is displayed. For example, AUTODS would appear in the data set name as ADS.

solutionName

Specifies the name of the solution (within the function) that caused the JCL to be tailored and saved

Dnnnnn

Specifies the letter D followed by the date on which the data set was created, in Julian format (yyddd)

Tnnnnnnx

Specifies the letter T followed by the time of day on which the data set was created in hhmmss format. The last character is a unique value to allow for more than one data set to be created by the same solution in a single second. This unique value is always present.
