Creating KPI reports

By using the key performance indicator (KPI) reports, you can measure the actual performance against targets. Remedy Smart Reporting provides the following types of KPI reports:

  • Historical reports, which include daily data reports
  • Summary reports, which usually include weekly data reports

Notes

  • For KPI reporting data to be displayed correctly, make sure you that the Remedy AR System Flashboard Services are restarted after Remedy IT Service Management has been upgraded.
  • To change the duration of the report data, open the KPI flahsboard variable in Remedy Developer Studio and update the Collection Interval value in the History tab under Data Collection.

A KPI variable usually comprises:

  • A metric
  • A qualification
  • A date restriction or period

Using KPI metrics, you can track the actual performance, compare it to a goal, and detect trends. These metrics are most commonly used in organizations as KPIs to monitor critical business areas. KPI reports are designed to be used on a KPI Dashboard tab, and not as standalone reports.

A KPI report differs from a standard report in the following ways:

  • KPI reports are run periodically to detect trends and changes in data (or uses a date field).

  • KPI reports use conditional formatting to classify the current status of the metric.

  • KPI reports can be added to a KPI Dashboard tab to easily monitor critical business areas.

    Note

KPI reports do not support the use of cross tabs. You can only choose the column or row formats for your report.

Remedy Smart Reporting offers the following types of KPI reports:

  • Spot—Sets a KPI without displaying additional information, other than the value itself.

  • Categorical—Splits what is displayed on the tab into categories when viewed as a report. You can break up the value into categories for further examination.

  • Time—Shows a trend according to time-series data, rather than real-time trends. You can also show more detail in the report (like a Categorical KPI).

The KPI reports provided with Remedy Smart Reporting can have multiple dimensions to help better segregate your report data. You can add up to four dimensions to a KPI report. For example, the change request trend report can be filtered based on Priority, Assigned Group, Service, and Company.
