Important

The options that are available on the BMC AMI SQL Performance for Db2 menu might vary from those shown in the preceding figure. The options displayed on the panel depend on the product licenses that you have activated.

To display the SQL Explorer main menu, select option S (for SQL Explorer Component) on the common panel.

The following table describes each option on the SQL Explorer main menu:

Field

Description

Options

Enables you to change general, analysis, and JCL options

Explain

Produces online or batch information about a plan, package, DBRMLIB, or ad hoc SQL performance and suggests recommendations for improving performance

Explain and Compare

Analyzes and evaluates a plan or package and suggests recommendations for improving performance

Compare

Evaluates a plan or package Explain against previous Explains and suggests recommendations for improving performance

Mismatch Analysis

Reports mismatches (in data type, length, or both) between host variables or expressions and a Db2 column or expression

Impact Analysis

Lists all SQL statements that are affected by a schema change

Migrate Access Path Statistics

Migrates Db2 access path statistics from one subsystem to another Db2 catalog

Declarations Generator

Automatically generates a DECLARE TABLE statement, a host variable structure, and an indicator structure for nullable columns for a COBOL, C, or PL/I program

The generated statements are inserted into a PDS member that you can include in any number of applications.

SQL Explorer Rules Help

Opens the Rules Help file, where you can search for specific rules by BMC message number

Maintenance

Provides a mechanism for verifying whether maintenance has been applied and, if so, the level of maintenance that was applied

SQL queries specify the Db2 subsystem ID (SSID)

In non-data sharing environments, you can provide an SSID for this option. In data sharing environments, you can provide a group attach name, a subgroup attach name, or an SSID.

DDF Location

Specify another subsystem to access through the Db2 Distributed Data Facility (DDF).

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
