Limiting objects using filters

To manage a large number of objects, limit the scope of your work by filtering objects using a string.

Only objects that include the string, which can appear anywhere in the object name, are displayed in the results. This lets you narrow the number of objects that are displayed in the tree.

To limit objects using filters

  1. Open any of the following folders:
    • Component Templates
    • Components
    • Depot
    • Devices
    • Jobs
    • Servers
  2. Right-click the icon representing the folder, smart group, or group you want to filter and choose Apply Filter.
  3. Use the following filter options:
    • Specify a string in the Name text box. The string may appear anywhere in the object name.
    • Specify a date range in the Date box.
  4. To add an additional line that lets you use a text string in the Description field as a filter, click More

    Note

The More option is enabled only when the Group Explorer view is available in the perspective. When the Group Explorer view is not available, Name is the only intrinsic property displayed.

  5. Click Filter.
The refreshed tree displays only the objects that contain the text string. The objects that do not contain the string are not displayed or removed from the group.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
