Examining patch properties for AIX

You might want to examine the properties of a patch before choosing to apply the patch to your servers.

On the Software Properties Panel for a patch, you can verify information, such as source of the patch, title, description, and language. To do so, in the AIX Patching Job view, right-click a patch and select Open Patch. (See Viewing-status-and-results-of-an-AIX-Patching-Job for details about how to open a AIX Patching Job view.)

The Extended Properties Panel shows additional information such as, Package Name, Build Date, and so on. The Build Date property is also present in the Properties tab of the Filesets. 

Note

Build date is present only for the Filesets.

The value of the Build Date property is populated in four digit format or three digit format. The first 2 digits (in four digit format) and first digit (in three digit format) represent year, and last 2 digits represent the week of the build date. For example, if the Build Date value is 1801, 18 represents the year (2018) and 01 represents the week (first week of the year 2018). If the Build Date value is 936, 9 represents the year (2009) and the 36 represents the week (36th week of the year 2009).

Also, for service packs and patches, you can view the Update Type, Build Date, OS Level, Install Command, and so on in the AIX Container Properties tab.

To do so, in the AIX Patching Job view, right-click a service pack and select Open Container.
