Preparing for upgrade

This section describes how to upgrade Remedy Single Sign-On to the latest version.

Before you begin

Review system requirements to make sure that all required hardware and software are available to upgrade Remedy SSO on a target server.

To prepare for the upgrade

  1. Before you upgrade Remedy SSO, make sure that you have the required permissions to run the installer, and the required user permissions for the Remedy SSO database. For information about required permissions, see Installation permissions.
  2. From the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) site, download the Remedy SSO upgrade files, unzip and save them on all the servers where you want to upgrade Remedy SSO. For information about how to download the installation files, see Downloading the installation files.
  3. Make a backup copy of the existing configuration of the Remedy SSO server. At a later time, if you need to roll back the upgrade, you will be able to reapply the old configuration.  For information about how to export Remedy SSO configuration, see Importing and exporting Remedy SSO server configuration.
  4. If you have applied custom settings in the web.xml located in the <RSSO Tomcat>\webapps\rsso\WEB-INF folder on the Remedy SSO server, create a backup of these settings.
