Coexistence of assets and CIs in Remedyforce CMDB

With the introduction of the IT asset management capability in this release, you can now leverage your Remedyforce CMDB 2.0 data to define and manage both assets and Configuration Items (CIs).
Assets are corporate resources that you need to manage from an inventory, financial, and contractual perspective (for example, mobiles). CIs are any components in your IT infrastructure that are critical to delivering business services to your users (for example, server tied to a banking application). A CMDB instance represents a record in the BMC Remedyforce CMDB, which can be classified as a CI (access point), asset (mobile), or both (server). Each instance has configurable properties or attributes that identify it as an asset, CI, or both. Because of this design, you do not have to duplicate data if a record is both a CI and asset.

For more information about how CIs and assets coexist in Remedyforce CMDB 2.0, see BMC Remedyforce CMDB 2.0 architecture.
