Integrated authentication for BMC Client Management administrators

If your system administrator has enabled the integration between BMC Remedyforce and BMC Client Management, and you are a valid BMC Client Management administrator, you can perform the following actions from BMC Remedyforce:

  • Search for and import a BMC Client Management device from the Incident form (accessed from the Remedyforce Console, Incident Console, or Incidents tab).
  • Deploy operational rules on a BMC Client Management device.
  • Run the commands of the BCM Actions menu from the CMDB Manager (accessed from the Remedyforce CMDB tab) and the Incident form.
  • Start the BMC Client Management console from the CMDB Manager.

The first time you connect to BMC Client Management from BMC Remedyforce, the BMC Client Management Authentication dialog box is displayed. In this dialog box, you must enter your BMC Client Management credentials. If your credentials are correct, BMC Remedyforce stores your user name in the BCM Login ID field of your user record. You need to enter your credentials for future connection attempts only if you change your BMC Client Management password.

The BCM Login ID field is displayed in your user record only if your system administrator has edited the layout and added the BCM Login ID field to the layout. To view your user record, navigate to Setup > My Personal Information > Personal Information.

Note

If your system administrator has enabled the improved Setup user interface in your Salesforce organization, navigate to My Settings > Personal > Personal Information. For more information about the improved Setup user interface, see http://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewHelpDoc?id=admin_setup_improved.htm&language=en_US.

To prevent users from editing the BMC Client Management user name stored in the BCM Login ID field, your system administrator might have enabled the Validate_BCM_Login validation rule. After this rule is enabled, you can delete but not edit the user name in the BCM Login ID field. If you delete the user name in the BCM Login ID field, BMC Remedyforce displays the BMC Client Management Authentication dialog box when you attempt to perform an action from the BCM Actions menu or start the BMC Client Management console.

Note

If you have changed your BMC Client Management user name in the BMC Client Management console, you must delete the user name in the BCM Login ID field and enter your new credentials in the BMC Client Management Authentication dialog box.

When you perform an action on a BMC Client Management device from BMC Remedyforce, your user name is recorded in the BMC Client Management logs as the user who has performed the action.
