Stores information about communication points from which data can be sent or received. Protocol endpoints link system or computer interfaces to logical networks. The available links are defined by the subclasses of protocol endpoint, communication, IP, and LAN.

The address format (for example, IP, IPX, or Ethernet), depends on the Protocol Type value. The value of this field can be further refined in subclasses. For example, in BMC_IPEndpoint, this value is formatted according to the convention specified in the Address Type field. |
Protocol Type | Picklist | The type of endpoint. A value in this field can overlap with a value in a subclass. However, when the class is used to represent an endpoint (for example, no subclass exists for fiber channel endpoints), this field is needed to categorize the endpoint.
