Localizing a form

This section provides information about the mapping that is used in forms and the best practice that you should follow to localize a form.

Identifying UI labels mapping in a form

In a form, such as the Incident form, UI labels that are mapped to field labels are represented with the same name in the Translation Workbench. For more information about localizing using the Translation Workbench, see Localizing field labels.

The titles of the sections that appear in the right side of the form are mapped to custom labels. The fields in these sections are standard fields and are localized, by default, in the language that is assigned to the logged-on user.

Tooltips that appear in the application are mapped to both field labels and custom labels. Tooltips that are mapped to custom labels can be localized on the custom label details page. For more information about localizing custom labels, see Localizing custom labels.

Stage progression values that include Opened, Acknowledged, In Progress, and Closed are mapped to custom labels. These stage progression custom labels are prefixed with "StageProgression_". To localize the stage progression custom labels, see Localizing custom labels.

Best practice

This section provides the practice that BMC recommends for localizing a form.

  1. Localize all the UI labels that are mapped to object labels, such as, Incidents, Broadcasts, Tasks, and so on. For more information, see Localizing object labels.
  2. Localize the UI labels that are mapped to field labels. Use the Translation Workbench to localize these field labels. For more information, see Localizing field labels.
  3. Identify all the Tooltips that are mapped to field labels and localize these tooltips by using the Translation Workbench. For more information, see Localizing field labels.
  4. Localize the UI labels that are mapped to custom labels. For more information, see Localizing custom labels.

    Note

When you translate BMC Remedyforce into more than one language, the Global Search/Knowledge base becomes limited. You must translate BMC Remedyforce in one language only for all Staff members.

Localizing the Clients and Accounts pages

The UI labels on the Clients and Accounts pages are mapped to custom labels. For more information about localizing custom labels, see Localizing custom labels.
