Verifying scan details

You can view scan progress and current discovery status for each scanner. You can use these details to troubleshoot device discovery in your network. For example, if you notice that communicating with devices in the network is failing because of invalid credentials, update the credentials to access network devices by using a protocol.

To view discovery logs, navigate to Remedyforce Administration > Configure CMDB 2.0 > Discovery Setup & Configuration. On the Scan Configuration tab, click View Details in the Scan Details column of the Scanner Details section. The View Details link is enabled after a scan is run at least once.

Scan status of a protocol can be discovery_scan_fail_icon.gif, if one or more of the following conditions is true:

  • The protocol specified in the scan configuration is not used for the device.
  • For all NMAP protocols, device with the given IP address is unreachable.
  • Credentials to access a device type are invalid.

You can click a column to sort data. BMC recommends that you wait until all data is loaded and then click a column to sort data.
