Use cases of importing data from automated discovery tools

Integrating with automated discovery tools or importing data from such tools, such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping, and BMC FootPrints Asset Core allows you to better utilize the capabilities of BMC Remedyforce. Here are a few such scenarios:

• You can import data from discovery tools, such as SCCM, BMC Atrium Discovery, and BMC FootPrints Asset Core and link those configuration items (CIs) to a release and use these in release planning.
• You can use BMC FootPrints Asset Core to store the baseline versions of CIs. These baseline versions can be used to revert to a trusted version whenever the need arises.
• You can set import rules while importing CIs that can be used to update the CMDB to match the most updated versions of CIs. These import rules ensure that correct versions of CIs exist in CMDB.
• You can integrate BMC Remedyforce CMDB with Definitive Media Libraries (DML), such as BMC FootPrints Asset Core software catalog.
