Utlities menu
The Populate Sample Baselines option automatically imports and evaluates sample baselines into Mainframe Predictor. When you use this feature, by default Mainframe Predictor populates sample baselines for September 15, 2006. After the baseline has been evaluated, you can access the sample baselines in Scenario Explorer for "What if...?" analysis and as input for the reporting tools. You can use the Print command to print reports or other data.
You can use the Namespace Manager menu command to access information about Baselines, Studies, Scenarios, and Growth Plans, as well as manage Mainframe Predictor Web portals and multiple namespaces. You can use the Namespace Manager to access and delete any of these objects with some restrictions.
You can use the Data Subscription Facility menu command to start the Data Subscription Facility utility and manage your connection with the z /OS Server. This server supplies baseline data.
You can use the Web Publishing Configuration menu command to enter values for an FTP server or a web server, or both, or you can change values that you entered during installation.
You can use the Manual Data Population menu command to manually import baselines for use in Mainframe Predictor. This method is an alternative method to receiving baselines directly from the z / OS computer running Universal Information Exchange. You can also merge baselines. Manually merging baselines is useful when you want to study the performance of a group of systems together or evaluate how various changes might affect their growth strategies.
You can delete baseline files in your source folder once they have been populated into Mainframe Predictor. For more information, see the BMC Performance Predictor for Mainframes User Guide.
You can use the Hardware Table Editor menu command to view and change hardware information that is stored in the Hardware Table. Three categories of information
describe your hardware: CPU, Disk, and Tape. You can use a context menu to insert, delete, and modify information entries.
You can use the Data Dictionary Editor menu command to view and edit changes to metrics in the console. Any changes that you make to a metric apply to all instances of that metric in Mainframe Predictor. The Data Dictionary editor displays all the metric names in their long and short forms as well as embedded Help that displays the
description for any metric that you select.
You can use the CDB Profile Editor menu command to populate a growth plan with projections based on BMC CDB historical data (from a Visualizer database). You must first create one or more CDB profiles that will bind the Forecast Wizard in the Growth Plan Editor to the BMC CDB Services that you want to use.
You can use the Disk Usage Summary menu command to look up the location of your Mainframe Predictor installation and data files. The command also tells you how
much disk space is on the indicated partition, the amount of disk space in use by Mainframe Predictor, and the amount of free disk space remaining.
The UIE/PC Console menu command appears in the Utilities menu if you have installed UIE /PC on your machine. Choose this menu command to open the UIE /PC application.
