Version 4.9.00 January 2014

The following changes are reflected in the documentation:

  • POINTER CHECKER PLUS now provides support for IMS Version 13.

  • Through a component of the EXTENDED BUFFER MANAGER for IMS product (XBM) and the SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE for IMS product (SUF), POINTER CHECKER PLUS can exploit the IBM System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP). SUF is included in various BMC database products for IMS. Through the zIIP exploitation component, the utility can use enclave service request blocks (SRBs) to enable zIIP processing while running jobs. If a zIIP is available, the component attempts to offload eligible processing to the zIIP. If the zIIP is busy or not available, normal processing continues on a general-purpose processor.

To use the zIIP enablement component, specify the ZIIPIO and SORT64 option in the global options module. You can also specify the XBMSSID option. These options are valid on the GLBL control statement in the PCPSYSIN data set.
