Executing under the IMS Image Copy utility
An efficient way to validate pointers is to execute the Hash Checking technique under the IMS Database Image Copy utility (DFSUDMP0).
You can image copy and validate the database in only slightly more time than it would take just for the image copy, and you do not need to validate pointers after the image copy unless the hash totals do not balance.
