Defining the recording interval for historical data collection

Use the following procedure to specify the recording interval for historical data collection.

In BBIPARM member DYCTIR00, define the recording interval and synchronization by using the following syntax:

 INTERVAL INTVAL='{SMF|<n>}' SYNCVAL='<n>' SHORT='{YES|NO}'

Parameter

Description

INTVAL='{SMF|n}'

Defines the length of the recording interval

Valid values are:

  • SMF — SMF recording interval
  • n — a number of minutes between 1 and 60

    This number must be 1 or an integer factor of 60 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30 or 60).

The default is 5 minutes.

SYNCVAL='n'

Defines when to start the first interval, in number of minutes after the hour

Valid values are 0 through the value of INTVAL. If INTVAL='SMF', iCap uses SYNCVAL='0' (the default).

SHORT='{YES|NO}'

Allows iCap to cut short an interval if the policy, MSU limit, or mode is changed.

The default is YES. For iCap, the default value (YES) must be specified.

Information
Example

To set the interval to 10 minutes, starting at 5 minutes after the hour:

INTERVAL INTVAL='10' SYNCVAL='5' SHORT='YES'

iCap has six 10-minute intervals every hour, at 5, 15, 25, 35, 45, and 55 minutes after the hour.
