Setting up include exclude rules for queue tracing

Tracing options enable you to include queues in or exclude queues from tracing and control the amount of data that is collected for the MQITRACE view.

For actions that can be used on the MQITRACE view, see the view Help.

The following tracing options are available:

  • INCL: include the queue names that match this rule in the trace

  • XALL: exclude the queue names that match this rule in the trace

  • EXCL: exclude the queue names if they do not match an exception trace type

Use the following options to specify initial tracing settings for when MQ trace logging will be controlled by MainView Transaction Analyzer policies:

  • MVTI: use the current INCL setting unless a MainView Transaction Analyzer policy changes the setting

  • MVTX: use the current XALL setting unless a MainView Transaction Analyzer policy changes the setting

  • MVTE: use the current EXCL setting unless a MainView Transaction Analyzer policy changes the setting

If you do not specify a tracing option, MainView Transaction Analyzer policies will be able to change the trace settings.

MainView Transaction Analyzer policies must be either rebuilt (or updated manually) to specify the named queue on the QNAME parameter of the SUBSYS statement, rather than the resolved queue name.

See the MainView Transaction Analyzer User Guide for more information about MainView Transaction Analyzer policies.

Specify these rules in member BBSTRC nn in the UBBPARM parameter library with the following format:

type=queueName
  • type is in column one and is one of the following rule types: INCL, XALL, or EXCL.

  • queueName is the name of the queue to include or exclude and can contain wildcard characters (? or *).

Indicate the existence of trace rules by specifying the following parameter in the EXITOPT DD statement:

TRCNTL=dsName(memberName)
  • dsName is the name of the UBBPARM data set.

  • memberName is the name of the UBBPARM member that contains the rules, such as BBSTRC00.

Note

TREXCEPTION values are checked before the EXCL values.

When include/exclude rules are processed, a BBSX850I message is written to the BMCMSGLG data set for each queue that is included or excluded.

BBSX850I jobName MQTRCNTL {INCL | EXCL | XALL | errorTextString}[queueName - address ]

The address value is the address of the MQE MXMQLO control clock.

Example

BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL SYSTEM.HIERARCHY.STATE - 5B5E0648
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL SYSTEM.ADMIN.TRACE.ROUTE.QUEUE - 7E8B6A48
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL SYSTEM.BROKER.Control.QUEUE - 5B5E0088
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL SYSTEM.DEFAULT.ALIAS.QUEUE - 7E8D1360
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL SYSTEM.BROKER.SUBSCRIPTIONS.DATA - 5B5DF488
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL SYSTEM.DEFAULT.LOCAL.QUEUE - 7E8D1A48
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL csq4 - 5B41B000
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL NOT FOUND CSQ4 - ***ERROR**
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL INCL Best.queue - 5B41A000
BBSX850I CSQ7MSTR MQTRCNTL EXCL GRT.COMMAND.REPLY.CSQ7 - 5B4CDC08

When processing is complete, a BBSX888I message is written to the console and the BMCMSGLG data set.

BBSX888I jobName MQTRCNTL TRACE INCLUDE/EXCLUDE COMPLETE FROM MEMBER memberName
