Alarm definitions

Alarm definitions consist of the following parameters:

  • threshold and filter criteria
  • view, product, and context for which the criteria are established
  • message IDs and message text
  • monitoring frequency and time periods
  • hyperlinks to views, extended Help or BMC AMI Ops Automation commands

Sample alarm definitions are shipped with CONTEXT=SAMPCTXT. For the samples to work on your system, change CONTEXT=VALUE, where VALUE is a specific Linux target image name or a defined SSI context.

Definitions for Alarm Manager version 2.1 and earlier are stored in a parameter library member that is read by Alarm Manager at MVALARM PAS initialization. Definitions for Alarm Manager 5.0 and later are stored in the BMC AMI Ops Infrastructure common registry that is defined as an HFS file in the CAS.
