Monitoring remote subsystem CPU usage under Subzero

If your site uses the BMC Subsystem Optimizer for DB2 (also referred to as Subzero), you can configure MainView for CICS to collect additional information about the non-CICS CPU usage of remote subsystems by task.

MainView for CICS collects aggregated information for calls to the supported subsystems across a Subzero link in the task performance data. An aggregate count of requests made to the Subzero interface, and the recorded CPU usage by the target, is maintained for each task. This data is not separated by IBM DB2 PLAN but applies across the CICS task.

The following views display Subzero target CPU utilization:

View name

Description

CTASKDC

Displays the CPU usage by TCB of an active CICS task

CHISTDC

Displays the CPU usage by TCB of an completed CICS task

CHINTDC

Displays the average CPU usage by TCB of all completed CICS tasks in a selected interval

THINTDC

Displays the total CPU usage by TCB of all completed CICS tasks in a selected interval

Activating Subzero target CPU usage data collection

To activate the Subzero data collection for DB2, specify the following INITPARM to your CICS SIT inputs:

INITPARM=(OLTSCMR='SZMON=DB2')
