Limited support

BMC provides limited support for this version of the product. As a result, BMC no longer accepts comments in this space. If you encounter problems with the product version or the space, contact BMC Support.

BMC recommends upgrading to the latest version of the product. To see documentation for that version, see BMC AMI Ops Monitor for CICS, version 7.3

Eliminated support for functions and views

BMC has announced in earlier versions that support for some MainView for CICS functions and views would be discontinued. The following sections describe the functions and view that are no longer supported in this version.

CHISTP family of views

The CHISTP family of views is eliminated.

This view has not been supported for several releases and is replaced with the CHISTORY view (beginning with version 5.8 of the MainView for CICS product).

CMRPRBT macro

The CMRPRBT macro is no longer supported.

Sites that still use the CMRPRBT macro to administer the CMRPRBT problem monitor table must convert to using the CMRPRBT administrative views to set the problem monitor table. The CMRPRBT administration views have been available since version 6.1 of MainView for CICS.

Existing CMRPRBT modules will continue to work however, the CMRPRBT macro is no longer available to build an updated CMRPRBT module.

See the chapter "Administrative Views" in the MainView for CICS Online Services Reference guide for information about how to use the views.

CMRSECU macro and module

The CMRSECU macro and generated module are no longer supported.

Existing CMRSECU modules will continue to work however, new actions and resources, introduced in version 6.8 and later, are not supported.

You should convert to BMC basic and enhanced security via your site external security manager using the z/OS system authorization facility (SAF) interface. For more information about how to use basic and enhanced security, see the MainView Security Reference Manual and the MainView Security Guide.

Fullscreen displays

The following full-screen displays have been eliminated with the exception of the following six services:

  • VTAM
  • SUFFIX
  • LPA
  • SCA
  • NUCLEUS
  • SUBPOOLS

The full-screen menu options are modified to display the corresponding windows-mode view. The following table lists the full-screen displays that are no longer available and the corresponding family of views that replaces the display:

For compatibility with existing MainView AutoOPERATOR scripts, the obsolete displays can still be invoked for targets running CICS TS 5.3 or earlier. Contact MainView AutoOPERATOR support for assistance in converting any automation scripts to use the replacement views.
