Assigning roles and permissions

BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management provides the following user roles to manage access to various functionality:

  • AR Foundation Categorization Read
  • AR Foundation Location Read
  • AR Foundation Person Read
  • AR Foundation Geography Read

Service Level Management (SLM) library permission:

  • SLM Admin
Multi-Cloud Service OwnerTrack the health of a service using the Service Dashboard.

Ticket Brokering Library permission:

  • Multi-Cloud Service Owner

BMC Helix Platform Foundation library permissions:

  • AR Foundation Organization Read
  • AR Foundation Categorization Read
  • AR Foundation Location Read
  • AR Foundation Person Read
  • AR Foundation Geography Read

Service Level Management (SLM) library permission:

  • SLM User

To assign BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management user permissions

  1. As an administrator, log in to BMC Helix Platform. 
  2. Click the Administration tab.
  3. In the Settings pane, select Foundation Data > Manage People > Agents.

     To add a new user and provide required permissions
    1. Click New and fill out the required fields. 
    2. On the New Agent page, fill out the required fields.
    3. Click Access Details.
    4. From the Functional Roles field, select the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management functional roles you want to assign to the agent. 
    5. Click Save
     To update permissions for an existing user
    1. Select the agent record and click Edit.
    2. On the Edit Agent page, click Access Details.
    3. From the Functional Roles field, select the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management functional roles you want to assign to the agent. 
    4. Click Save
    1. To add a new user and provide required permissions, click New and fill out the required fields.

    2. To update permissions for an existing user, select the agent record and click Edit.

  4. Click Access Details and add from the Functional Roles field, select the functional role you want to assign to the agent. 

  5. Additionally, for Multi-cloud service admin add the following details:

    1. Enable the Tenant Admin option.
    2. From the Application Licenses field, select Innovation Suite User Named.

      Note

      You must also provide Administrator permission to the people record of the user.

  6. Click Save.

Licensing

Licensing BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management enables you to:

  • Control access to your application.
  • Protect the intellectual property of your organization.
  • Reduce management costs, and adhere to your organization's compliance policies.

To use BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management, a BMC administrator assigns an application license to a tenant. A tenant administrator need not assign individual licenses to users.
